Tatie Lou

Louise, of Tatie Lou, is no stranger to pattern. Hailing from the UK, the textile, wallpaper, and homewares creator produces the most incredible prints with her signature use of rich jewel tones and nature-inspired motifs. Her Pachamama design has remained a long-time Bravery favourite, with its elegant cranes and emerald hues. Our more recent collaboration Les Plumes is equally as captivating, brimming with feathers, flora and fauna.

We feel so lucky to have worked with Louise and hope you enjoy learning more about her brilliant, creative mind.

Tell us a bit about yourself!
I grew up in a few places as my dad always (and still has) itchy feet so we didn’t stay in one place for long. The most memorable being in South Africa where we lived for 4 years. I have always been creative and have always loved making things. I think from about the age of 7 I was making things and selling them (whether it was knitting heart shaped cushions
and selling them to my friends in the playground for Valentines Day). I can’t live without my family and creativity.

Describe your artistic aesthetic in three words - GO!

Colourful, elegant, maximalist.

You’ve recently moved to France from England. Has this influenced your designing in anyway? Yes, definitely, there is a slower pace of life over here and I feel I am much more in tune with nature and my creativity since moving here.

How do you describe your style? What do you love creating?
I love experimenting. I think I am still finding my style as I can change techniques quite frequently but I love working with materials that allow fluidity and freedom like Shibori and dyeing.

I love creating patterns and look at things constantly while imagining what they would look like as a pattern

We love the elegant patterns and richness of colour that is found within every piece you create. What is the inspiration behind this new design? I love using flowers and birds in my work. This design works in so many ways with its large scale. It works great as wallpaper as much as a silk scarf.

This is your second time collaborating with Bravery Co., with your Pachamama design being one of our all-time most popular scarves. Do you have a message to any of the warriors who will be wearing your scarves? I hope that wearing my designs makes you feel confident, beautiful and kick ass.
