We love your crazy, colourful prints and patterns. Can you tell us how you found your artistic groove and a bit about your creative process?
I started designing fabrics when my son was born. I couldn't find funky, Aussie prints on fabric and so I taught myself how to create textiles and upload them to print-on-demand sites. Soon I realised that I wasn't the only one who wanted these kinds of prints, and I've since had the never-ending joy of creating them for clients and myself! I'm constantly inspired by our wonderful country, childhood nostalgia and literature.
How did the Playtime print come about? Where did you find your inspiration?
As a teen/uni student I worked at Movieworld, so I have a special affinity for theme parks. And as a Gold Coaster, our whole city feels like a playground! So I tried to capture the essence of some of my favourite play-places and put them all into one print! In the original run there were less people. It was printed just before Covid and everyone was in lockdown when it arrived. So when I did the next round I printed it with more people in it, as a bit of a beacon of hope that we would make it through this, and return to our favourite play spaces!
What does this collab with Bravery Co. mean to you?
I am so happy to have been asked to work with Bravery Co. It's a privilege to work with a company who make such a meaningful impact on the lives of those who have been touched by Cancer. It's my real privilege when people reach out to me to tell me how much joy my fabrics bring them, and if a smidge of this joy can extend to those in some of their darkest days I am so honoured.
Do you have any messages for the warriors that will be wearing the beautiful scarf?
My favourite thing about theme parks or the beach is that, whilst you're there, you can forget that the rest of the world exists. I hope that this scarf can bring you some escapism, that it can transport you to a place and a state where there is light and joy, even if just for a moment. We are cheering you on.
